About this course
This course provides a practical understanding of the IFMP Code of Ethics and Practice for stock brokers and other capital market professionals in Pakistan. Learners will explore the ethical principles, regulatory duties, and professional standards that govern relationships with clients, employers, and the wider market, including trustworthiness, fair dealing, suitability, legal compliance, independence, and disclosure of conflicts of interest.
The course also introduces the Islamic ethical foundations that underpin many of these principles, drawing on relevant verses of the Quran and Hadith, and presents realistic scenarios drawn from Pakistan's financial sector to help learners recognise and respond to ethical issues in practice.

- Apply the principles of trustworthiness, cautious judgment, and duty of loyalty when advising clients.
- Practice fair dealing by treating all clients equitably and avoiding preferential treatment.

- Demonstrate loyalty and responsibility to your employer, including safeguarding confidential information.
- Disclose and manage compensation, bonuses, and third-party payments transparently.
- Comply with SECP, PSX, and other applicable laws and regulations governing capital market conduct.
- Maintain independence and objectivity, free from undue influence or conflicts of interest.
- Avoid misrepresentation and ensure all communications with clients are accurate and truthful.
- Recognise and avoid professional misconduct, including fraud, dishonesty, and unauthorised trading.
- Identify and help prevent insider trading and market manipulation to protect market integrity.
- Disclose conflicts of interest, prioritise client transactions, and report referral fees and incentives.
Requirements
- Basic familiarity with the role of a stock broker or financial professional in Pakistan's capital markets is helpful.
- No prior legal, compliance, or ethics training is required.
- Internet access and access to the IFMP eLearning platform.
- Openness to reflecting on real-world ethical scenarios drawn from Pakistan's financial sector.
- No client data or real transactions are used in this course; all scenarios are illustrative.
